dc.description.abstractA morte é um evento do ciclo básico da vida que carrega consigo o paradoxo de se fazer tão presente quanto busca ser afastada do cotidiano. O processo de conscientização sobre a finitude, dessa forma, torna-se momento delicado que pode ser melhor elaborado com acompanhamento psicoterápico. A relação terapêutica estabelecida entre psicólogo e paciente vem sendo apontada como um dos principais fatores relacionados à eficácia do processo estabelecido e envolve, naturalmente, aspectos relacionados ao paciente e ao psicólogo. Considerando a interseção entre o tema da finitude e o processo psicoterápico, o objetivo desse trabalho foi conhecer como se dá a relação terapêutica no contexto do atendimento psicoterápico de paciente em situação de finitude. Para tanto, foi realizada uma revisão integrativa da literatura brasileira e uma pesquisa empírica. A revisão da literatura investigou como a relação terapêutica é abordada no atendimento psicológico de pacientes em situação de terminalidade, no Brasil. Os resultados indicaram que o atendimento psicológico de pacientes próximos de sua morte é realizado majoritariamente em ambiente hospitalar e vinculado aos serviços de cuidados paliativos. Nesses trabalhos, a relação terapêutica foi apontada como principal fator responsável pela garantia do atendimento e esteve, principalmente, relacionada às características técnicas e pessoais do psicólogo, apontando para uma compreensão monológica da relação na qual esta é conduzida como responsabilidade do profissional. A pesquisa empírica, por sua vez, realizada com entrevistas a dez psicólogas e analisada por um método empírico-fenomenológico, trouxe informações importantes acerca da experiência da relação terapêutica no atendimento psicoterápico individual de pacientes em processo de finitude. Nesse estudo, as participantes relataram que a relação terapêutica foi vivida como uma experiência peculiar, intensa e dolorosa, além de extremamente afetiva e transformadora em termos pessoais e profissionais. A relação terapêutica foi, também, identificada como o principal recurso do qual as profissionais lançaram mão para acolhimento e apaziguamento dos pacientes, assim como para sua própria elaboração sobre a situação que vivenciavam. A percepção das entrevistadas sobre a experiência relatada concorda com uma concepção dialógica e intersubjetiva da relação, na qual paciente e terapeuta, juntos, constroem o processo psicoterápico e os resultados dele advindos. A ampliação sobre as informações acerca da relação terapêutica levantadas pela pesquisa empírica corroboram a importância desse tipo de dado para uma compreensão atualizada e implicada da psicologia e de seu papel junto ao sujeito e sociedade.
dc.description.abstract-enDeath is a life-cycle event that carries with it the paradox of being as present as it seeks to be removed from everyday life. The process of being conscious of finitude thus becomes a delicate moment that can be better understood with psychotherapeutic support. The therapeutic relationship established between a psychologist and a patient has been identified as one of the main factors related to the effectiveness of the established process and naturally involves aspects related to the patient and the psychologist. Considering the intersection between the theme of finitude and the psychotherapeutic process, the aim of this study was to understand how the therapeutic relationship takes place in the context of psychotherapeutic care for patients in the finitude process. The study was conducted in two steps: an integrative review of the Brazilian literature and empirical research. The literature review investigated how the therapeutic relationship is described in psychological care for terminally ill patients in Brazil. The results indicated that psychological care for patients nearing death is mainly provided in hospitals and is linked to palliative care services. In these works, the therapeutic relationship was identified as the main factor related to the satisfactory outcomes of psychotherapy and mainly associated with the technical and personal characteristics of the psychologist, suggesting a monological understanding of the relationship, in which it is guided as the responsibility of the professional. The empirical research, on the other hand, conducted through interviews with ten psychologists and analyzed using an empirical-phenomenological method, provided important information about the experience of the therapeutic relationship in individual psychotherapeutic care of patients in the process of finitude. In this study, the participants reported that the therapeutic relationship was experienced as a unique, intense, and sometimes painful experience, as well as extremely affective and transformative in personal and professional terms. The therapeutic relationship was also identified as the main resource that professionals used to provide support and comfort to the patients, as well as for their own understanding of the situation they were experiencing. The interviewees' perception of the reported experience aligns with a dialogical and intersubjective conception of the relationship, in which the patient and therapist together construct the psychotherapeutic process and its resulting outcomes. The expansion of information about the therapeutic relationship raised by the empirical research underscores the importance of such data for an updated and engaged understanding of psychology and its role with individuals and society.
